Colter taking on a new client?
Colter taking on a new client?

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • WWE has officially announced Dolph Ziggler vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at Payback on Sunday (June 16.) Most of us likely assumed it was happening already, but the match is now official. Many feel that Ziggler's return fell flat, but a quick segment on Raw was deemed necessary to reestablish his feud with Del Rio for the title a week before Payback.
  • Those who watched Monday night's (June 10) Raw saw Zeb Colter as a guest commentator during Antonio Cesaro's victory over Sin Cara. Colter spent considerable time during the match talking up Cesaro and making sure to point out how Cesaro entered this country "legally," as opposed to the likes of Alberto Del Rio and Sin Cara. Throw in the fact that Colter's current client Jack Swagger is out until at least the end of the month (though rumors suggest he could be out as long as August,) and the rumor mill is abuzz with the idea of Colter taking on Cesaro as a client. However, at this moment, there do not appear to be any plans to pair Cesaro with Colter. Obviously, plans can and do change in pro wrestling all the time, and this could depend on the severity of Swagger's injury. Regardless, the seeds were planted on Monday night for a potential team up should WWE decide to head in that direction.
  • Speaking of Raw, the Daniel Bryan/Seth Rollins reportedly match drew high praise from those backstage, as well as the wrestling world in general. Jim Ross in particular tweeted that WWE superstar hopefuls should "thoroughly study" that match if they want to make it to this level. How WWE will handle the rumored upcoming feud between the massively over Daniel Bryan and the eternally-babyface John Cena will be interesting.
  • Kofi Kingston's elbow surgery was reportedly a success. He is expected to miss eight weeks.
