WWE Extreme Rules results: John Cena vs. Ryback gets no finish; Cena does stretcher job after big stage spot

New, comments

John Cena and Ryback never had a finish to their WWE championship match at Extreme Rules tonight (May 19, 2013) in St. Louis, instead doing a big spot through the stage set up at the end that resulted in a stretcher job from the champ.

When he was WWE champion, CM Punk was able to get a couple really good matches out of Ryback. Tonight (Sun., May 19, 2013) at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, John Cena got his chance to do the same.

Only he was working on an apparently bum foot in a Last Man Standing match.

They were given plenty of time to work and, as is almost always the case with Cena, worked a typical WWE main event style match. There were big enough spots, like Cena going through a table set up in the corner early on and Ryback taking an Attitude Adjustment through one later.

There was also a spear through a barricade and a big brawl through the crowd.

The story late was about Ryback somehow managing to get back up despite Cena pulling out all the stops and getting extremely frustrated at the fact that he just couldn't put him down for the 10 count.

Ultimately, they went without a finish. Ryback picked up Cena and drove him through the stage set up, causing lights to go boom and laying both guys out completely. Ryback managed to get up and walk away with the help of a referee but they went full out for Cena, doing a stretcher job and yes, checking for a pulse.

He's stable, by the way. But he did get the Owen Hart voices from the commentary team. That means we're supposed to take this super serious.

Cena, obviously, retains the WWE championship.
