I voted
My rationale: Swagger and Del Rio are both pretty versatile. They can do technical spots, they can do generic brawling, they can do airborne spots, they can do bumps. On the surface, the story isn’t really as compelling as it could, but the two guys themselves are pretty good wrestlers. Upping the ante, I think they’ll surprise.
I would have gone with CM Punk vs Undertaker, but frankly, the limitations of what Undertaker can probably do is going to hurt the match. Asides for the emotional factor, his matches with HHH and the second one with Shawn Michaels weren’t exactly wowing. They weren’t snooze fests, but other than a few spots, I really don’t remember anything that made me ohh and ahh.
HHH vs Brock Lesnar, eh. Unless Lesnar suddenly becomes Brock Lesnar 2002 (or whatever it was), it’s probably going to be very brawl heavy, and that doesn’t really do it for me.
Shield vs Sheamus/Orton/Show, eh. Orton and Sheamus do nothing for me, either in the ring or personality wise. Big Show has his moments, but I’ve been digging his mic work moreso than his wrestling.
Rock vs Cena, eh. Both guys are limited, and I’ll leave it at that. Same thing with Ryback vs Mark Henry.
I don’t know enough about Johnny Curtis as a wrestler, but Fandango vs Jericho could very well be another sleeper pick. Jericho is good.
The other matches, whatever. by Steve Sypa on Mar 30, 2013 | 8:10 PM rec (3)

Think about it. Remember how John Cena vs Rock had an epic PPV main event encounter one year ago when there was no title on the line? And so one year later with the title on the line, doing a spectacular Rock/Cena PPV rematch is an absolute no-brainer. Right? Of course.

Heel Ryback against John Cena would be a mistake right now
Unless Ryback wins. The trend in WWE for main titles is to have the challenger lose rematch after rematch. If Ryback loses to Cena two or three times in a row, then what do you do with him? He’s stuck in that upper card hoss territory with Big Show and Mark Henry. In that case, he’s a charitable asshole, a giving prick, a caring douchebag. by Mega Nick on Apr 6, 2013 | 12:02 AM rec (3)
and...
The problem that he does not realize...
It’s not even wanting him to “go heel” at this point, as most (myself included) have come to the conclusion that it’s the unicorn or the Anderson Silva/Jon Jones or Georges St.-Pierre fight that will never appear/occur; he has no edge in his character…it’s so cookie-cutter that we know what’s coming each and every time: Pandering to the crowd, promo with no substance or feeling, and when he actually has a match it sucks the heat out of the arena because the man doesn’t “lose”. Oh sure he may drop a decision from time to time, but when is the last time the man let someone go over him cleanly? If my memory is correct, the closest I can remember is Money In the Bank 2011 to CM Punk…and even then he tried to stop John Lauranitis from “screwing” Punk only to be hit with a second GTS for the 1-2-3, so I can’t even call that a “clean” job.
And that’s the problem: he’s the biggest star on this roster yet he will not put anyone over. The debate has happened many times, but who has Cena actually helped “make” during his 10 year tenure at the top? I can’t put the full blame on him as creative and WWE should have been on top of this more, but that’s a major problem when you have a company that works basically year-round and has its burnout issues (among other things). Because Cena is the ultimate good guy,SUPER CENA doesn’t lose. Well if heels don’t go over on him, then the good guy always wins….what happens when we have no more Cena, and no more good guy? Who’s the next face that can take the reigns? Answer: there isn’t one. And it’s because no one has that exposure, that signature win over a guy like Cena who could propel them into the main event and actually stick there…the only one who is even close is Punk, and that’s more from his following than anything Cena has ever done for him.
The worst thing that could have happened to Cena was having that first match with The Rock, because it only reinforced to himself that he is “the man” of the WWE right now, and that he could coast yet still be on top of the card. It’ll be a sad day for the kiddies when Cena finally is off the house show circuit and into a more part-time role…but by God I cannot fucking wait for that day to occur. And this line…
With Cena, it’s different. He’s got a lot more to consider, such as his charity work with children
That’s a bullshit cop out. Kurt Angle was one of the best heels in the business back in the late 1999-2000’s…he had no issue doing the charity work, visiting the troops, seeing sick kids. Even recent examples: CM Punk visiting the shooting victim in the hospital without even being told to do so by WWE management; or Daniel Bryan (over as a face, but performing as a heel) going to a hospital and allowing a kid to put him in the No Lock, tap him out, and hold the belt.
John Cena comes off lazy as he just doesn’t want to add some edges to his round, stale character. And that sucks, because he’s proven that he can have good matches and tell good stories inside and outside the ring…but he seems content to basically phone it in now because he doesn’t want to piss off the kids and the parents of said kids. /End of rant. by DFreshMMA on Apr 6, 2013 | 12:10 AM rec (3)
