The Rock will be getting surgery to repair WrestleMania 29 injury after all

After claiming he would simply push through the pain in order to film his next movie, a move that sounded ludicrous, The Rock is now saying he will in fact be getting surgery to repair the injuries he suffered at WrestleMania 29.

As if this story couldn't get any more bizarre and hard to believe, The Rock is now saying on his Twitter account that he went back to his doctor for his torn abdomen and after a particularly nasty incident, he's scheduled surgery for sometime next week.

So he says:

This conflicts with his originally stated plan to forgo surgery and deal with whatever pain he feels so as to avoid having to push back the shooting schedule for the Hercules movie he's playing the leading role in. That's the reason he comically inflated his body the way he did, which may or may not have helped lead to his getting injured in his match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29 on April 7, 2013, in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

If nothing else, his getting surgery should help clear his name as far as the WWE fan base goes. There was immediate backlash when Rock skipped out on appearing on Monday Night Raw on April 8 without telling anyone until just hours before the show was set to go live on USA, causing a panic and a re-write of a major angle the company had planned between "The Great One" and Brock Lesnar.

The prevailing thought was that if "The Brahma Bull" was going to skip surgery, go back to hard training, and then shoot Hercules, why is it that he couldn't simply appear on Raw for one angle where he set up a match with Lesnar sometime down the line?

This surgery lends more credibility to how serious the injury actually is and should help to calm the calls for his head by fans online.

Or will it? How are you Cagesiders feeling about this story at this point?
