The S3: Vote for Best Performer of the 2013-14 Season, Week 2

Join in a discussion with your fellow internet fans about the past week in pro wrestling: who entertained us the most, and why!

Everybody who comes to Cageside Seats has an opinion about what's going on in pro wrestling - The Smark's Shoot Standings (S3) are where YOU let us know YOURS.

Cast a vote in the comments. Give us the three performers you think entertained or impressed the most in the last week, and feel free to talk about why. And/or vote for your top performer in our poll.

We also have the results of last week's voting, the results of which will go into our annual competition for Performer of the Year.

Remember, the Standings are for the previous week - the April 15th episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, Wednesday night's WWE Main Event, the TNA Impact from the 18th and the WWE SmackDown that aired on Friday April the 19th.

Make YOUR mark, smarks!

• Dolph's win was obvious coming off the feel-good moment of the year for us on Raw. But AJ keeps doing the little things right and Langston looks as strong or stronger than his boy, earning the whole group places in the first Standings of the new year.

• Ahhh, remember those halcyon days before WWE ruined Fandango?

• Daniel Bryan - hanging with the 'Taker man (and some other guy who may or may not have almost defined the Attitude Era).

• Even with a name that sounds like an 80s hair metal reunion tour, we loves us some Dudley v Hardy spot fest.

• I for one am very interested in seeing how Ryback charts through his feud with the WWE Champ.

The S3 - 2013-14, Week 1

1. Dolph Ziggler
2. Fandango

3. Daniel Bryan
4. John Cena
5. Bully Ray

6. Jeff Hardy
7. Big E Langston

8. (tie) AJ Lee

8. (tie) Chris Jericho
8. (tie) Ryback

8. (tie) Zeb Coulter

Our annual list is identical to the previous week, since we only have one week to go from. If you're jonesing for some numbers, head on over to our full 2012-13 season wrap-up. There's some charts and analysis in there, too.

And since we've saved some space by not needing to publish an annual Standings, I'm gonna re-run a full edition of the voting "rules" and scoring methodology:

If you choose to vote in the comments (and we hope you do), you have three "slots". If you place one performer in each, first place is assigned three points for the week, second two and third one. Weekly points are assigned to everyone's comment for ranking.

You can list more than one wrestler per slot, either as a tag team or a tie between unrelated workers. If you use all three slots and have people tied in any of them, those performers will split the points assigned to that slot. For instance:

1. Antonio Cesaro
2.
AJ Styles/James Storm
3. Big E Langston

results in Cesaro getting three weekly points, Styles and Storm getting a point each (splitting the two points assigned to a second place vote) while Langston also gets the one point for third.

On the other hand, you can assign more points for a tie by having the tie replace one of your other slots, like so:

1. Antonio Cesaro
2.
AJ Styles/James Storm

In this instance, Styles and Storm would each receive 1.5 weekly Standings points, as they will split the two points for second and the one point for third.

The poll is typically counted as one comment for each twenty individual votes (e.g. if we get 43 poll votes, six points are assigned to the highest vote-getter, four points for second, two for third) with all three slots used and ties counted accordingly.

The annual list is calculated in a similar fashion. Finishing first in the weekly poll is worth ten annual points, through tenth being worth one. Ties split the points assigned to the rankings between the number of people tied. So if Alberto Del Rio, Gail Kim and Bo Dallas tie for seventh, nine points (four for seventh, three for eighth and two for ninth) will be split three ways.

After a thrilling first week, both nationally televised promotions crashed back to earth. How will that effect your votes, and our Standings?
