Daily Open Thread for Sunday, Feb. 17: Who Wants To Live Forever?

Here's your "Daily Open Thread" for Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013. Throughout your day, come tell us whatever your heart desires, talk about this week's wrestling, or whatever else may be on your mind. Time spent here is guaranteed to be well worth it, no matter what we all chat about.

Here's your Daily Open Thread for Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013:

As usual, come discuss whatever your heart desires, or unload the depths of your despair, we are here for you either way, for better or for worse. Whether you get bored at work, have something on your mind, or just want to chat with all your favorite lovely Cagesiders on any topic you want -- even some wrestling!

Today, same as yesterday, I would like to share a video "in memorium". This video and song has always touched my heart in a deep and special way and I wish I could share it with my dear friend Scott. It is being posted because Scott, a man I love(d) dearly, perished this week. It is he whom I have constantly on my mind, and etched deep within my heart, and whom I yearn for when I hear this song.

So, please indulge me: All of you, please just stop what you are doing for a few minutes, be silent, listen to the song and think of who you might wish you could have spoken to, if you were to find out that they were gone tomorrow.

Then, call them up, fire off a text, a chat, an email, go see them, give them a hug, tell them how they have touched your life. Then you can have a beer and watch some sports and be happy. That is all I ask of you, just those few moments of your time, and that request-- in honor of the loss of my dear friend.

Without further ado, I present to you a touching, epic song, written by Brian May, sang by Brian and the immortal Freddie Mercury, both of Queen: "Who Wants to Live Forever?" from the "Some Kind of Magic" soundtrack to the award-winning film Highlander ~

Then, after checking that out, you should be sure to scroll on down through the thread, make a comment or two -- or dozens; revisit it throughout the day (and night). You will likely enjoy some of the usual gems from your fellow Cagesiders, including:

Match of the Day, Music Video Link of the day, Babe of the day, Bro of the day, Alison Brie gif of the day, AJ Lee pic of the day, Photo Caption of the Day, and more!

This thread is not guaranteed to cheer up any form of blues you may have; maybe you need a venue to gripe about your work, your boss, your lesser half, the brats, heels or faces in your life, or the general public at large. Or perhaps, this is a place where you can celebrate all the shit that makes you happy in this world and be glad to have another day with those you love ... whatever it is, just come chill out with us, regardless.

Give it a go, or comment, or lurk... 'til your heart is content! Lyrics below the line for those who want to follow along...

"Who Wants to Live Forever"

Written by Brian May of Queen [1st verse sung by Mr. May, remainder by Freddie Mercury]

There's no time for us
There's no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever
Oh ooo oh
There's no chance for us
It's all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever
Ooh
Who dares to love forever
Oh oo woh, when love must die

But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever
Forever is our today
Who waits forever anyway?

Today's video post, just like yesterday's, is dedicated in the memory of one of the best men to have walked this planet, a modern-day hero, a man I was proud to call one of my closest friends, even though we had never met "in real life". SBNation, and well, basically just 'aboot' every one who ever met him, was made better for having connected with him. We have all lost a profoundly unique individual, and for that we mourn:

~Scott Paul Shrive - April 24, 1969 - February 14, 2013 ~

We will love you forever and always 'Scottidog'. This one's for you... ((EVERYONE RAISE 'EM UP & TOAST A MOLSON FOR THE BEST CANADIAN TO EVER LIVE, EH!))

Monday, Feb. 18, we will link you to a post from MMA Mania that will be designating how members of the SB Nation can contribute to a fund for the widow and children, who are surviving the sudden loss of one of our own.
