On this date in WWF history: Undertaker crucifies Stone Cold Steve Austin on 'Monday Night Raw'

Undertaker crucifying Stone Cold Steve Austin on Monday Night Raw? Yep, it happened on this date in WWF history back in the wacky and wild days of the Attitude Era.

On December 7, 1998, World Wrestling Federation (WWF) Chairman Vince McMahon did what he does best: He created a firestorm of controversy with Monday Night Raw.

And who better to have at the center of your controversy than two of your biggest stars?

I'm talking, of course, about Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker. "The Rattlesnake" was feuding with "The Deadman" after 'Taker turned heel (read more of that here). Following a tag team match between Austin and Mankind vs. Undertaker and the Rock, Stone Cold ate a few chairshots and was carried off to be "crucified" by the Druids on the Undertaker's symbol, meant to resemble the crucifixion of Christ.

So much so, that religious groups flew off the handle and kept the WWF in the headlines for weeks.
