Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- With each passing day, we draw ever closer to WrestleMania XXX, and the rumors around Hulk Hogan making his return to WWE continue to simmer on the back burner. Rumors of a match between he and John Cena persist, as well as the possibility of those two teaming up in a tag team match in order to protect the elderly and ailing Hogan. If the tag team option is the one WWE selects, WWE is said to be carefully considering who they would select as opponents for Cena and Hogan. They are trying to avoid hampering the rise of any of their young, talented teams such as the Shield and Wyatts by essentially having them lose to a team sporting a 60 year old man. However, they are trying to balance that caution with matching the duo up against a team worthy of such a spot at WrestleMania. It's a tricky spot, but it is looking more and more likely that Hogan will indeed have a spot at WrestleMania XXX, one way or another.
- We've noted before that Layla has been conspicuously absent from WWE programming in recent months, including a stretch of about a month where she wasn't even active on Twitter. As it turns out, she is reportedly dealing with an undisclosed medical issue and WWE is aware of the issue and has approved the time away.
- Michael Hayes, head of WWE creative, was back at work on last night's Raw for the first time since he was given forced leave back in October. Hayes was reportedly on leave after being seen having drinks with recovering alcoholic Rosa Mendes.
- Someone who was not present at last night's Raw, despite it being taped in his home state of Oklahoma, was Jim Ross. Ross mentioned on his blog that he hoped the crowd would be a good one. He also mentioned that he would be against the unification of the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles, and hopes that it doesn't happen.
