WWE TLC results: Randy Orton defeats John Cena, unifies WWE and world heavyweight titles

The main event of tonight's (Sun., Dec. 15, 2013) WWE TLC pay-per-view (PPV) at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, featured World Heavyweight Champion John Cena putting his title up for grabs against WWE Champion Randy Orton, who was also putting his title up for grabs ... literally.

Both belts hung suspended above the ring. The idea was the winner would grab both and they would become the "Champion of Champions", as Triple H had taken to calling it. One unified, undisputed champion.

That's exactly what we got.

The match itself was as you would expect from these two. With tables, ladders, and chairs at their disposal, it turned into a plodding "punch-kick-punch-table spot-punch-kick-punch-chair spot-punch-kick" kind of bout. There were occasional high spots, like Cena knocking Orton through a table on the outside from the apron with a ladder in the ring.

The finish saw Orton handcuff Cena's hand to the bottom rope only for Cena to take the entire turnbuckle off and climb up the ladder to knock Orton over the head with it. It was an impressive spot, and one that created very real doubt regarding the outcome.

Eventually, though, Orton dragged Cena down using that very same rope before climbing the ladder himself and snagging both titles.

No swerve.

No lies.

One champion.

Randy Orton.
