We always knew this day would come but now that it's actually here, it's a bit more jarring than first anticipated. I'm speaking, of course, about the Big Show vs. Randy Orton WWE championship match that was made official for the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., Nov. 24, 2013, at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, Massachusetts.
The match was set during last night's episode of Monday Night Raw. Show, after prevailing in his bid to win his job back via legal expertise, used his increased leverage to demand a title shot at Orton later this month. His wish was granted and now here we are.
From the match preview at WWE.com:
The Authority's settlement with Big Show may not have cost millions of dollars or control of the company, but it could very well put in jeopardy The Face of WWE. At the 27th Annual Survivor Series, the big anti-Authority who packs dynamite in his fist will challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, a condition of the seven-footer's very public out-of-court settlement with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
The championship bout comes after months of Big Show being subjected to humiliating power plays by The Authority. Fueled by pent-up rage, the keeper of the KO Punch undoubtedly relishes the opportunity to dismantle Triple H and Stephanie's chosen one and reclaim the WWE Title in one fell swoop.
The Daniel Bryan vs. Orton WWE title program may not have lit the box office on fire, but will Show vs. Orton be much better? We'll find out soon enough.
If nothing else, we're now just over two months out from the Royal Rumble, which means WrestleMania season is just around the corner.
