I can't stop laughing.
WWE is bringing its Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) event to the First Niagara Center this Sunday night (Oct. 6, 2013) in Buffalo, New York. The main card features a tag-team match-up pitting The Shield against Dustin and Cody Rhodes. To help set up this program, the organization recently brought father Dusty back to Monday Night RAW.
And it was a memorable appearance for everyone except "The Dream," who went to sleep after a teary-eyed Big Show cold-cocked him in the middle of the ring. You know, "best for business" and all of that jazz.
But watching Dusty cut a promo on Stephanie McMahon before her henchman turned out the lights brought back memories of Rhodes' glory days in the mid-eighties, when he was teaming up with Magnum T.A. and battling it out with Tully Blanchard and his manager, "Baby Doll."
When Blanchard lost to Rhodes at The Great American Bash, she was forced to become Dusty's valet. Naturally, Rhodes made her do all kinds of ridiculous tasks, immortalized in a series of vignettes that aired back in the day. But Baby Doll would soon get her revenge when she swiped Dusty's Diner's Club credit card (remember those?) and flew to Waikiki on his dime.
Rhodes got billed by the Sheraton hotel and proceeded to lose his shit on national TV:
"The woman went to Hawaii with my Diner's Club card! I got a bill for $4,035, jack! It says, 'For room, assorted entertainment of men and booze.' Who do you think you are? She went over and spent my money! $4,035! Man, I cannot believe this woman!"
The best part of the entire clip is when he looks down and realizes he's wearing a Hawaiian shirt that he, in all likelihood, paid for with his stolen Diner's Club card. Baby Doll would eventually team up with Dusty after getting fired by Blanchard, but turned on him later that year during his feud with Ric Flair.
Hard Good times.
