The big boot staying in TNA?
The big boot staying in TNA?

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • In big news regarding the status of Hulk Hogan, it looks like he will indeed be returning to TNA. While he hasn't yet officially signed a deal with TNA, it is expected to happen soon in order to have Hogan ready for a Bound for Glory pay per view (PPV) appearance. Though the rumors regarding WWE having interest in the Hulkster for a "prominent role" at WrestleMania 30 were apparently legitimate, the money wasn't enough for Hogan's liking. He was hoping for something in the range that the Rock and Brock Lesnar have received in recent years for part-time roles, but the money WWE offered Hogan was reportedly nowhere close to that. Instead, he'll return TNA where he will likely get a raise, retain creative control over all storylines involving him, and possibly a few more "crazy demands" he was said to be making of the company.
  • The leg injury suffered by Bray Wyatt at a house show on Saturday night was reportedly a "deep muscle bruise" in his calf. He did appear at another house show the following night, but did not wrestle. He watched Luke Harper and Erick Rowan compete in a match from his chair at the top of the ramp. Those in attendence reported that he had to lean on Harper and Rowan following the match in order to head backstage. A similar situation ocurred on last night's Raw when the Wyatt family interrupted the Miz/Randy Orton match. He will be undergoing further evaluation this week and will be kept out of the ring as a precaution until then.
  • In a combo "News of the Weird" slash "Blast from the Past" item, CM Punk has been challenged by Jason David Frank, best known for his role as the Green Ranger on the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers show, to an MMA fight. Frank has taken up the sport and would love to have a match with Punk. The chances of WWE actually allowing one of their top superstars (who is constantly dealing with a litany of minor injuries) of participating in such a match are, let's say, slim to nil, but it's a fun item nonetheless for those seeking some 90s nostalgia.
  • Some in TNA are anticipating a less-than-stellar buyrate for the Bound for Glory PPV this coming Sunday as the event will face stiff competition from the Sunday Night Broncos/Colts football game. (Peyton Manning is returning to face the Colts for the first time since leaving the team.) Early expectations are that the game may be the most watched of the NFL season. On top of that, should a game 7 be required to decide the Tigers/Red Sox ALCS baseball playoff game, it will also take place at 8:00pm EST on Sunday.
