Wrestler Wrankings™: 2013-14 Season, Week 27

Hulk Hogan may be returning to WWE and this could be huge news for the Wrestler Wrankings.

Recently rumors have been percolating about the contract status of the most competitively successful wrestler in the history of the sport, Hulk Hogan.

Apparently, "The Hulkster" has fulfilled his obligations at the upstart Total Nonstop Action wrestling promotion and is now free to pursue other opportunities.

This is huge news for the Wrestler Wrankings.

Hogan doesn't wrestle often for TNA. The reason for this is an apparent desire to nurture the young talent that resides there. To this end he has done a fair bit of campaigning for the likes of Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Mr. Anderson, Abyss, and others and these budding stars are better for it.

And now comes word that Hulk Hogan may be returning home to WWE.

He could certainly serve in a mentoring role there, or perhaps as a devastatingly effective mouthpiece. Hulk Hogan is, after all, probably the greatest hype man in the history of the wrestling while still possessing the most endearing aesthetic in the history of all sport.

What I'm most interested in though, is the prospect of a return to active ring action. Hulk Hogan, as I mentioned above, is the most competitively successful wrestler ever. He's beaten everyone from Akeem the African Dream to Zeus.

I would love nothing more than to see Hogan lace up his boots again and try his luck against modern WWE stars like Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, or Daniel Bryan. And I also wouldn't mind seeing Hogan take another crack at old rivals like Undertaker and Triple H or try to succeed where he once failed against Brock Lesnar or The Rock.

Really, the possibilities are endless. The only thing that's certain is that a healthy, active, and motivated Hulk Hogan who even slightly resembles the Hogan of years past could give the rest of the stars occupying the top of the Wrestler Wrankings all they could handle!
