On this date in WWF history: Chyna and Chris Jericho are named co-Intercontinental champions

The WWF had a dilemma on its hands on this date in history, and Stephanie McMahon solved it by naming Chyna and Chris Jericho co-Intercontinental champions.

One of the reasons Chris Jericho felt his initial run with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) was underwhelming was the fact that he was considered so green by the standards of those in charge in Stamford that he was quickly demoted to working mid-card programs with the likes of Chyna.

Which ultimately resulted in his sharing the Intercontinental title with her.

How that came to be was during the course of their feud, including Jericho jobbing to her on pay-per-view (PPV), the two had a match that saw both get their shoulders counted down by separate referees, each referee declaring one the winner.

Naturally, this led to Stephanie McMahon making the decision on Monday Night Raw on this date in history (Jan. 3, 2000) that they would be co-champions and have to figure out a way to get along.

Chyna then went over on Hardcore Holly before Jericho ran off with the title. And the chase was on.
