Although The Rock vs. John Cena was the headlining attraction at WrestleMania 28, billed as "Once in a Lifetime" and easily the most heavily promoted match in years, it was a match on the undercard that night that stole the show and you Cagesiders voted "Match of the Year" for 2012.
Triple H vs. Undertaker.
The match wasn't a technical masterpiece, but it evoked a great deal of emotion in longtime fans who find it increasingly difficult to experience those true "mark out" moments that are so rare as a pro wrestling fan gets older. I thought Cagesider TMadeBurner described it perfectly in defending his vote:
I didn't want to see the match again. I didn't care. The build up was relatively boring for me and I was obviously convinced that Taker was getting his W.
Then all of a sudden during the match I start thinking "Holy shit, Trips really is going to put himself over on Taker here. Wow." Then the Sweet Chin into the Pedigree, I honest to god thought they'd count the 3 there and then when he kicked out I marked out like a little kid who still believes. And I don't get too many of those moments anymore so that's why Taker/Trips was the MOTY for me.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
