Poor Mark Henry.
The big galoot can't seem to catch a break whenever he works with Batista. Either "The Animal" sells too much or the equipment sells too little. Such was the case on Smackdown!, when Henry lumbered down to the ring to get his hands on that filthy scoundrel.
There was just one problem.
Batista was already locked inside the cage, safe from his attacker's wrath. So begins the huge spot where Henry hulks up and tears the door off while the announcers put him over and the crowd "oohs" and "ahhs." Apparently the cage didn't get the memo.
Or just felt like sandbagging him.
Awkwarrrrrrd.
Unintentional laughs come at the 1:18 mark when a fan screams "You're the world's strongest man, c'mon!" Henry begins pulling on the door at the 0:56 mark and it doesn't open until the 2:26 mark. That's a full minute-and-a-half of yanking, kicking, grunting and jerking with nothing happening.
WWE commentator Michael Cole (at 2:02): "Well, the cage is doing what is was designed to do here tonight."
Fortunately, the referee leans in at the 1:37 mark and tells Henry to go for the chain but even after he breaks in, all he does is run over and give Batista a little schoolyard shove to which Cole's partner, Tazz, says in disbelief, "GOD ... THE POWER!"
Cole fires back: "MARK HENRY EXPLODED INTO THE CHAMPION!"
Something exploded alright, because this segment bombed.
