Antonio Cesaro may be the United States champion but he's still jerking the curtain on WWE's Internet only show, Superstars, in matches against the likes of Justin Gabriel, who he defeated on the latest episode to go live today (Sept. 6, 2012).
Speaking of championships that don't matter, Diva's Champion Layla was also in action, also not in the main event, in a non-title match against Natalya, which she won. Big surprise, right?
Finally, after Damien Sandow disposed of Alex Riley in short order, the headlining act saw Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston and R-Truth defeating Primo and Epico.
This could be viewed as a great way to get the crowd invested in these Superstars matches or you could take the cynic's view and chalk this one up to WWE simply not caring enough about its various titleholders. Or maybe they're just priming everyone for the Night of Champions pay-per-view that is just over one week away.
Whatever works.
It's still a good show with plenty of solid in-ring action. Enjoy!
