TNA has often used its flagship show, Impact, to test new concepts. With the innovation of Gut Check, new stars are given the opportunity to shine and perhaps make the roster of talent. Open Fight Night was created to give any wrestler the shot to call out any other wrestler with the gimmick that said wrestler must always accept, no matter the circumstances.

This week, the promotion will be adding a new idea to the Impact program: "Championship Thursdays," which will kick off tomorrow night (Sept. 6, 2012) with TNA World Tag Team Champions Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. For more info, let's turn to TNA's website:

On "Championship Thursday", an IMPACT WRESTLING champion will walk to the ring not knowing whom they will face. During this monthly episode, four challengers will meet with Hulk Hogan and plead their case why they deserve the shot at the champion. One by one, the challengers will be eliminated until bell time when two challengers remain. As the champion stands in the ring ready to defend, Hogan makes the final decision and the title match starts right then!

As for this week's challengers, Hogan will be deciding between four pairs of teams. He will have to select from Robbie E & Robbie T, Gunner and Kid Kash, Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez, and AJ Styles and a partner of his choosing.

All in all, this could be an interesting little concept if done correctly. The intrigue of seeing title defenses once a month could draw in some viewers. However, there can be downfalls. Hopefully they don't go the WCW route and pull a major title switch in a big time match on free TV.

Make sure to tune in to Impact on Spike tomorrow night to see how it unfolds. Or just read our live blog, either way.
