As part of Hispanic Heritage month, WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia was asked to perform at halftime of today's (Sept. 30, 2012) NFL game pitting the San Francisco 49ers vs. the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, the same site as WrestleMania 29 next April.
She commented on this at Fox News:
"This is a wonderful honor. I love the NFL and I'm ready to give the crowd a great, high energy show at halftime as I perform songs from my new EP, ‘My Time.' This will be the eighth time I've sung the national anthem at a Jets Game and I love it. I am particularly honored that I've been asked to perform as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. It will be privilege to represent the millions of Hispanics who are proud to call America their home."
Although it had nothing to do with the game itself, it's worth noting that fans in attendance couldn't have been happy during her performance, at least the second one. That's because the Jets were losing 10-0 at halftime and would eventually go on to be shutout, 34-0.
Rough.
