We're back with another serving of amazing work by you, the Cageside commenters. Some of you have truly stepped-up your game and produced amazing work. So it's high time to recognize the excellent FanPosts, FanShots, and comments that were the cream of the crop this past week.
Oh, and thanks to Cagesider Ecstasy with Extra Cheese we now have a clever name for our new Weekly Cageside Commenters Awards which perfectly sums up what this series tries to do. After all, without all of you, Cageside Seats would not be the greatest pro wrestling website on the Internet. So, without further ado; we present to you...
The Cageside REC Awards: Recognizing Excellence in Contributing:
FOR EXCELLENCE IN AUTHORING OF FANPOSTS:
- Cagesider Kanenite ‘saw' IRodC's review of Chyna's sex tape, and ‘raised him' an amazing four part series. (You must read parts one, two, three, and four, if you haven't already done so).
- Cagesider Anthony Steven Lewis shared the video library of an Indy he used to run.
- Cagesider IRodC also wondered if WWE's No Blood Policy is a good thing or not.

FOR EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCTION OF FANSHOTS:
- Cagesider burningmidnight points us to an interview with Chris Jericho talking about how Christianity and Christian rock influenced his life and music.
- Cagesider congestedthoughts reveals the new Macho Man Air Jordans.
- Cagesider KJ Brophy shows Sin Cara being unmasked by Alberto Del Rio.

From the "Linda McMahon Reeling From a Series of Campaign Controversies" thread:
TV-PG rating is due to Mattel, not Linda. And at the last investors' call, Vince even admitted that they hadn't been using close to the leeway being TV-PG gives them (since the content was closer to TV-G), so they're clearly aware they went too far in the other direction. Although it's worth pointing out that TV content ratings are self-assigned; there's no MPAA-esque body that decides what content fits into what rating.
Honestly though, what have we really lost since WWE changed the rating? We've had swearing ("Jericho, you're bullshit!" 2 weeks before WM) and (intentional) blood (Lesnar-Cena) this year, just limited so it means more when it happens, which is the right way to do it. Choking people from behind with ropes/cords/etc was banned because of Benoit, not the switch to TV-PG.
Besides, as a whole, the "OMGZ ATTITUDE ERA" kind of sucked. WWE just lucked into having an amazing group of top stars (Austin, Rock, Vince, Undertaker, & Foley) who could be entertaining in spite of all of Russo & Ferrara's inane writing, especially once they got more power. In 1998, with a fresh format and Vince seemingly steering the ship more, yes, they had a pretty great year. But 1999 WWF is pretty much unwatchable these days until the point where Russo & Ferrara left and Chris Kreski took over as head writer.
And while I know a lot of people consider WM17 the end of "the Attitude Era," most of the things that are associated with it were gone once Kreski took over. Between the writing changes and HHH's improvement, Jericho adjusting to the style, Foley getting out of his rut for the final run against HHH, Angle/Tazz/The Radicals debuting, and the Hardys/Edge/Christian getting pushed, it became a much more wrestling-centric product to go along with the better booking and didn't really resemble the previous two years much at all.

From last week's "Weekly Cageside Seats Commenters Award: Week Ending Sept 21" thread:
I like acronyms, how about the R.E.C. awards. Pronounced as "rec" -- it could stand for Recognizing. Excellence. in Contributing.

An Honorable Mention from the same thread…
This is an awesome idea... CJs a genius obviously, so this makes sense coming from him.
From the "Pic: John Cena's Arm After Elbow Surgery Looks Gnarly" thread:
Nah, if it was Flair's arm, it would have bladed.
From the "WWE Raw Results and Live Blog for Sept. 24" thread:
As Punk would tell you [AJ Lee's] been touching talent for a while now.
by Anthony Pace on Sep 24, 2012 7:16 PM CDT 1 recs
And also from the same thread…
Punk was a Star, and we hated him for it. now he has collapsed under the weight of his ego into a smarmy black hole. B A Singularity Punk.
The Wu Kane Clan featuring Goat Face Killer
And...
I'm going to Japan in a few weeks. I hope I don't come back as Tensai.

From the "WWE Raw Results and Reactions From Last Night (Sept. 24): Real Men Wear Pink" thread:
Cena is probably not the one you want giving sociological advice about the perception of what constitutes "manly".
Cena's entire shtick is him calling the other person gay. The entire year-long suck-fest feud with Rock was based around him thinking the Rock was gay, and the Rock saying "nuh uh, you have the gays, lol". He also talked about Miz wearing make-up like that made him effeminate. Wearing make-up as a part of your job is totally gay! But wearing a traditionally feminine color also as part of your job isn't! I hate perceived gender roles and the archaic notions of "masculine" and "feminine".
No, I don't have a problem with someone saying "real men wear pink" because it helps get rid of the stupid "pink is for girls" stereotype. I do have a problem with Cena saying it because he's probably the biggest bully in the WWE aside from Jerry Lawler. I mean, whatever. This is the WWE in 2012, I suppose. But just shut the fuck up, Cena.
From the "Review of ‘Chyna is Queen of the Ring’ - Part Two" thread:
I was curious enough to try to watch this...
After the commentating during the entrances, this turns into one of the WORST pornos I’ve ever seen...It would have been SO much better if the commentating was going on during the gang bang. I mean, I don't think anyone could get off to that long and dull scene. Who the hell booked it to be so silent like that? Why did the scene last that long?
...Why am I talking about this so much? What am I doing with my life?

From the "TNA's Aces and 8s Angle Jumps the Shark on Impact Last Night (Sept. 27), with Kidnapping of Hulk Hogan and Sting" thread:
I guess this is what it feels like being a fan of... Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, Seattle Seahawks, etc. :(
You wish for something to be what is could be but instead, you're stuck with reality. The gaps between expectations and execution are far too wide here. And this really, really sucks as a long-time wrestling fan who's been really fortunate enough to be alive during the Attitude Era (I was born in ‘87, so YouTube is the only way for me to maybe experience '80's wrestling).
A lot of times, I try to be optimistic as a fan but once again, the gaps between expectation and execution are far, far too wide. So the only thing left to do is dream. I wish for a stud QB... but Browns draft busts after busts. I expect Weeden to be a stud... only for execution to not match up with expectations!
But as a fan, I will continue to watch pro-wrestling because I'm a fan and no matter how I feel at times, I will see pro-wrestling through its weakest moments as much as I see pro-wrestling through its strongest moments.
From the "WWE 'SmackDown' Results and Live Blog for Sept. 28: Big Show vs. Randy Orton" thread:
All my 19 year old boyfriends are like "We don't like the same video games, and my friends keep asking if you're a narc."
And also from the same thread…
Sheamus looks just as weird as Orton with a shirt on WTF is going on there? No shirts = a happy bitch.
