Well, there goes the surprise but this is good news nonetheless.
During a recent interview with News Channel 3 in Memphis, Tennessee, Jerry Lawler revealed he feels like he could wrestle today. He won't be doing so, of course, but it underscores how lucky he's been after suffering a massive heart attack on Monday Night Raw weeks ago in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
"The King" won't be returning to WWE this week but he does have a return date set.
"Everybody's asking me when I'm going to be coming back to the WWE," he said. "Hopefully, you know there's a big Smackdown event here in Memphis on Oct. 16 and I'm kind of setting my sights on maybe being able to be down at the Fed Ex Forum for that."
That's no real surprise and, in fact, it was always suspected he would do his best to make his return in his hometown. It's certainly not set in stone but he's already back working independent shows doing autograph signings and commentating, so this seems like an easy decision.
Who knows, maybe he'll pop up on Raw the night before?
