Jerry "The King" Lawler collapsed last night (Sept. 10) while on commentary during WWE Monday Night Raw. It was a scary situation for all involved, from the fans in the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to those watching at home.

However, our fears must have paled in comparison to the men and women working backstage. To witness someone you travel with and see almost every day fall unconscious and rushed to the hospital must be one of the most horrifying experiences anyone could ever go through.

Professional wrestlers, for all their faults and backstage drama, are still a close-knit family. When you're putting your life and limbs on the line every time you step inside the ring, it's impossible not to care for those around you who are doing the same. Situations like this are undoubtedly extremely difficult to endure.

Of course there were those who actually were backstage when it occurred, and they all offered their thoughts and prayers for "The King."

What is even more moving, however, is how many people who were not in the arena, and some who are no longer even with WWE, who were quick to offer their condolences.

It is a touching thing to see so many people rush to Lawler's side during this trying time. We here at Cageside Seats continue to offer our ongoing support and concern for Jerry Lawler and his family, and wish him a speedy recovery.
