With Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling restructuring its pay scale to save money, a few wrestlers who have been with the company for quite some time have left, including Velvet Sky.
Now we can add Devon to the list.
The current TNA television champion had his contract come up for renewal but in a recent series of tweets, he confirmed his split with the company.
"I would like to thank the TNA fans for making the last seven years fun," he tweeted. "I'm sure we will see each other again down the road real soon. I'm ready to see where god bring me to next. I can't wait. I see big thing(s) on the way."
Having just turned 40-years-old, it's fair to wonder whether or not he'll consider hanging up his boots if he can't catch on with another promotion. He says that's not happening, later tweeting "o(h) and HELL NO I'M NOT RETIRING."
This will, of course, lead to speculation of a possible return to WWE but unless Bully Ray comes with him, and there's been no indication of Ray re-signing with TNA just yet with his contract having come up just like Devon's, it seems unlikely WWE would be interested. A package deal, however, may be worth looking into.
There's also the matter of the television title Devon was holding. It's almost comical they never bothered to take it off him even though he was on such shaky ground but he hasn't defended it but once or twice over the past couple months. He could also drop the title on TV tomorrow night.
Anyone hoping he ends up back in WWE? Or have you Cagesiders seen enough of Devon?
Testify!
