It's official.
Brock Lesnar will make his return to the ring for his next match on Sun., Aug. 19, 2012, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. There, he will meet Triple H in the main event of Summerslam.
Sorry, CM Punk, looks like you're taking a back seat. Again.
This match has been brewing ever since Lesnar (kayfabe) broke Triple H's arm and "The Game" returned a few weeks later at No Way Out on June 17 to officially challenge Brock to a match at the biggest show of the summer. Because Lesnar is only signed for so many dates and WWE has been cautious of burning through them too quickly, he's stayed off television until last night's 1,000th episode of Monday Night Raw.
Paul Heyman has been acting in his stead, carrying out a feud with Triple H that has centered around lawsuits. Heyman has been threatening them and "The Game" has been ignoring those threats while saying and doing whatever he could to get Lesnar to accept his challenge.
Finally, it happened last night and now the two can start to really build towards their match. Lesnar is advertised and expected to appear on the next three Raw shows leading into Summerslam, which means they'll actually be able to work a storyline without relying solely on Heyman.
As of right now, this is the only match scheduled for the card, at least officially. Rumors have Sheamus defending his world heavyweight title against Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho taking on Dolph Ziggler and CM Punk granting John Cena a WWE championship rematch.
As always, stay tuned.
