Throughout the past few months or so, Dolph Ziggler and Zack Ryder have engaged in an online only feud in which Ziggler has called out Ryder on why he doesn't actually bother defending his Internet championship.
Ryder responded by saying he'll be happy to do as much and they both vowed to make it happen at WrestleMania 29 on April 7, 2013, in New Jersey. Good on them for planning ahead and everything but what of the complete opposite directions their careers have been going?
Ziggler, fresh on the heels of winning a world heavyweight championship Money in the Bank contract that all but guarantees he'll be holding that title sometime over the next year, recently told The Trentonian he still wants to honor his vow to have a match against Ryder at the show.
Although, as Guerrero pointed out, "this opens up more doors for him," Ziggler wants to respect his plans to face Zack Ryder, who rose to fame over the past year through his YouTube show, "Z! True Long Island Story," at WrestleMania 29 in New Jersey. "If I'm World Champion, I'd rather be in the ring with Zack because he worked hard to be there," Ziggler said.
Whether this is kayfabe or not, it's still Ziggler promoting a match against Ryder at the biggest show of the year. The two are friends off screen and that's fine, but what if Ziggler wins the belt, catches fire, and heads into next year's show with the title and in the midst of a major push? There have already been plenty of "we want Ziggler" chants despite the fact that he's a heel and working against babyfaces like Sheamus.
This is all without even mentioning the fact that Ryder is barely relevant on WWE television at present time and doesn't appear to be getting a push up the card anytime soon. In essence, the exact opposite of Ziggler.
Do we have any Cagesiders in the house who think this match happening at WrestleMania 29 is a good idea?
