Another week, another edition of Under the Radar.
What's going on this week in the world of indie wrestling?
Well, Ring of Honor (ROH) has announced some 2013 plans already and will be setting up shop this weekend in Milwaukee. Both CHIKARA and Dragon Gate USA are putting the finishing touches on their duo of shows at the end of the month.
And SHINE Wrestling is set to debut next Friday with one heck of a main event.
So without further adieu...
Ring of Honor
As we reported yesterday, ROH will indeed be hosting a show or two during WrestleMania 29 weekend. They've been doing this for a few years now and this year hosted Kevin Steen taking on El Generico as well as the Five Star rated match between Davey Richards and Michael Elgin. Essentially, they pull out all the stops.
But moving onto more pressing matters, ROH will be invading Milwaukee, WI (I always think of Alice Cooper when that city comes up) this weekend. Here's the card:
Kevin Steen and Jimmy Jacobs vs. The Briscoes
Eddie Edwards vs. Rhino
Roderick Strong vs. BJ Whitmer
Michael Elgin vs. Silas Young
Jay Lethal vs. Mike Mondo
Kyle O'Reilly vs. Tadarius Thomas
Woo boy, that main event promises to be one hell of a brawl.
CHIKARA
As I said last week, the next CHIKARA show isn't until the end of this month. In the meantime, we've got the latest Event Center which has the two main eventers, Grand Champion Eddie Kingston and Sara Del Rey.
Check it out:
I love that Kingston avoids the fact he's wrestling a women but instead treats Del Rey like just another competitor. That's what's up.
And if you want to know Where in the World is Archibald Peck, look no further than this video.
From Ottawa to D.C. in a week? "Marchie Archie" has cardio for days, son!
Dragon Gate USA/EVOLVE
SHINE Wrestling is set to debut on Friday, July 20 as a sister promotion to SHIMMER, and you can enjoy their shows live through the WWN Live network which is pretty much DGUSA internet PPV venue.
It's got the main event of Sara Del Rey taking on Jazz which is a great wrestling match regardless of gender.
Here's what else SHINE has in store:
Nikki Roxx vs. Rain
Veda Scott vs. Kimberly
Santana Garrett vs. Tina San Antonio
Tracy Taylor & Su Yung vs. Allysin Kay & Taylor Made
Reby Sky vs. Jayme Jameson
Mercedes Martinez vs. Leva Bates
Christina Von Eerie vs. Cherry Bomb
The next weekend, DGUSA returns for Untouchable 2012 and Enter the Dragon 2012: Third Anniversary Celebration.
Already signed for the weekend are Johnny Gargano defending his Open the Freedom Gate Championship against Akira Tozawa one night and going to war with Chuck Taylor in an I Quit match the next. AR Fox, CIMA, YAMATO, Super Smash Brothers and many others will also be in attedance.
Oh, and can you say El Generico vs Tozawa?
Oh yeah.
That's it for us this week, folks. Join us next week as we take a look at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's Threemendous III and the rest of world of indie wrestling.
