The stars of NXT once again descended upon Full Sail University in Orlando, FL for a series of tapings. The usual stars -- Richie Steamboat, Raquel Diaz, Seth Rollins and Kassius Ohno -- were there as well as some main card WWE talent like Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal.
The latter of which was involved in the very first NXT Championship Gold Rush tournament to crown the brand's first titleholder.
Exciting, no?
The tournament was the focus of the show but it also had some extra fun here and there. To close out the show, Kane took on Cody Rhodes and a former WWE Superstar showed up as well.
Who was it? I'll give you three hints: Rikishi's dancing partner, b-boy and Earthworm Jim.
Okay, it was Scotty 2 Hotty.
Full spoilers, courtesy of PWTorch, after the jump.
First Episode
Dusty Rhodes, the NXT General Manager, shows up and says, "Lemme tell you sum'tin, daddeh! We gon' hab a tonuhmet. Dat tonuhmet is gon' crown the first EVUH EN-EX-TEEEEE champyun."
Or at least, I assume that's how it went.
The first match saw Richie Steamboat defeat Leo Kruger to advance.
Big E. Langston squashed Adam Mercer in a non-tournament bout and Raquel Diaz defeated Audrey Marie in what is said to be an awful match.
Mike Dalton and Jason Jordan defeated WWE Tag Team Championship contenders Hunico and Camacho. Um, okay.
And Seth Rollins beat out Drew McIntyre to advance in the tournament in what is said to be a great match. PLEASE push McIntyre, WWE.
Second Episode
Michael "Don't Call Me Hennig" McGillicutty beat former FCW Champion Justin Gabriel to advance while Kassius Ohno defeated C.J. Parker in a non-tournament bout. Ohno was said to be brutal in his which with his elbow offense. GOOD.
Jinder Mahal beat Bo Dallas to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. Wait, what? From what I hear, Mahal is actually over as a rulebreaker down at Full Sail. For some reason, it doesn't translate to the main card.
Third Episode
Paige and Tamina beat Caylee Turner and Kaitlyn.
Scotty 2 Hotty answered Heath Slaters's Legend Challenge and beat him with The Worm.
The Usos beat The Ascension by DQ after the rulebreakers double-teamed one too many times.
Jinder Mahal beats Richie Steamboat and Seth Rollins defeats Michael McGillicutty to reach the finals of the Gold Rush tournament. Mahal and Steamboat? Hmmm... one of these things is not like the other.
Rhodes announced they'll be back in two weeks for more tapings and they'll presumably crown a champion then.
