Twitter ... not winning?

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) recently announced that actor/drug addict/walking train wreck Charlie Sheen would act as a social media ambassador for the 1,000th episode of Monday Night Raw on July 23, 2012. Essentially, he would live tweet his thoughts during the show, the idea being that it would increase the audience seeing as Sheen as 7.7 million followers at present time.

That's why a recent TMZ.com report is worth mentioning. Apparently, Sheen is on the verge of shutting his account down:

Sources close to the former warlock say @charliesheen will close up shop within days, or possibly mere hours ... because Charlie feels like he's not getting anything out of the social network. No offense to his 7,707,791 followers, we're sure.

It should be noted that as of this writing, Sheen has yet to shut down his Twitter nor make any mention of doing so. In fact, he tweeted a picture from inside an airplane just an hour ago.

That doesn't mean he won't be ditching the social media service as TMZ is reporting, of course. But I can't imagine he came cheap and if he bails on his commitment to WWE -- and we can assume it's a commitment thanks to the company already announcing and heavily promoting it -- the ensuing shit storm would be something to watch out for.

Still, I can't believe I just wrote an entire post on Charlie Sheen potentially quitting Twitter. It's the new world, folks.
