WWE names the 50 greatest Monday Night Raw matches of all time

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) first took to the air with Monday Night Raw, its flagship show, on Jan. 11, 1993. It started as a one hour live show before moving to two hours in 1997 and finally three hours starting on July 23, just under two weeks away from today.

Obviously, that means there have been more matches than one could ever bother to count. I'm sure WWE has done so -- some poor sap at Titan Towers was likely tasked with tallying them up -- but for the purposes of this latest list, WWE.com simply found the 50 greatest matches in Raw history.

That's a daunting task and surely there are snubs and notable oversights. None of them came to mind when I saw the list, however, because, well, my memory simply isn't good enough.

I will say that the match that pops into mind as my own number one ended up at (SPOILER!!!) number four -- Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H for the world heavyweight championship in Dec. 2003. It was one hell of a back and forth between two incredible workers who were laying it all out there for each other. They also told a great story and while the finish could have been improved (non-smoz, for instance), it was a classic.

But it wasn't number one. I'm sure when you see it, you might have a few qualms about it. Or maybe you won't and you'll agree completely. Only one way to find out.
