CSS Pro Wrestling Tournament Match: (6) Freddie Blassie vs (11) Jesse Ventura

The Cageside Seats (CSS) Pro Wrestling Tournament continues today with a match-up pitting number six seed Freddie Blassie against number 11 seed Jesse Ventura.

Blassie was an old timer who played his heel role to perfection. As the stories go, actually, he frequently needed extra security to the various regions he traveled. That's how good he was at getting fans to hate his guts. He also had a cool charisma about him that led to folks like Andy Kaufman to become obsessed with him. Not only did he have a successful in-ring career, though, he was also one of the most successful managers in history.

Ventura's in ring career saw him adopt "The Body" persona, a heel bodybuilder from California who liked to bully people. He was also a flamboyant character who borrowed heavily from "Superstar" Billy Graham, no different than so many others. Much like Blassie, though, Ventura is likely just as well known for what he did outside the ring as what he did inside it. He was a great color commentator whose work on the microphone was unparalleled.

Fittingly enough, Blassie spent a period of time managing Ventura in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Now they get to have a match and you decide the winner, Cagesiders.
