There were rumblings that World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Hall of Fame Announcer Jim Ross would make his return to the broadcast booth as the lead announcer at tonight's (May 17, 2012) NXT debut tapings in Florida and now it's confirmed.
From the Full Sail University Twitter account:
BREAKING NEWS: @WWE Hall of Famer @JRsBBQ will return to ringside to cover tonights @WWENXT taping @FullSail!
It was not revealed if this will be a full time gig for Ross or not but it's entirely possible that Ross and William Regal will become the full time announce team for NXT. And how amazing would that be? Quite possibly the best announcing team on the WWE roster would be commentating the lowest show on the totem pole while the worst team, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler, calls the flagship program, Monday Night Raw.
Hey, at least we'll get to hear Ross announcing in some capacity, right?
