On this date in WWF history: The Rock throws Stone Cold off a bridge

On April 12, 1999, The Rock threw "Stone Cold" Steve Austin off a bridge on Monday Night RAW, then proceeded to throw the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) Championship right into the river after him.

That's the kind of stuff that went down in "The Attitude Era."

The Rock had absconded with "The Texas Rattlesnake's" Smoking Skull belt, a tricked out version of the regular WWF belt, as they prepared for their pending feud at Backlash. It was supposed to be payback for when Stone Cold chucked "The Brahma Bull's" Intercontinental strap off a bridge a few years before that.

Rock and Austin had one of the better feuds in the late 90's and despite goofy stuff like this, I think it still stands the test of time. Besides, when Monday night RAW features anything involving Nicole Bass, I'll take silly skits like this all night.

Anyone else miss that version of The Rock?
