I think we all had our suspicions about Ion Television's new WWE Main Event program.
Even after the first episode featured a rare WWE Champion vs. World Heavyweight Champion (non-title) match, the general consensus was that matches of this quality would not be regularly featured on the show. It was seen as merely a quick and sexy attention grab followed by weeks of irrelevant bouts and filler that would waste both our time and will.
Happily, WWE Main Event has been anything but a waste, with consistently fresh and interesting matches and a taped TV format that allows for a tight and entertaining show that is, most importantly, centered on sport in its purest form. Simply put, the show is entertaining for all the right reasons and free of much of the fluff that sometimes plague marathon length shows like Monday Night RAW.
This puts me in a pickle, loyal readers. In my quest to holistically score and rank the sport we love, I pledged to find a formula and stick to it. This formula included only RAW, SmackDown, and Pay Per View shows. WWE Main Event on ION certainly doesn't fit this description, but it's turned into what I believe is the best hour of wrestling on TV each week.
I can't risk my impartiality, so I ask you Cagesiders, to please vote in this poll. Determine the fate of WWE Main Event as it pertains to "Wrestler Wrankings" and I'll either ignore or retroactively add Main Event to the Wrankings lexicon starting next week.
Choose wisely, and thank you for your help!
