The S3: Vote for Best Performer of the Week Ending Dec. 23rd and Last Week's Winner

Thes3_large

Everybody who comes to Cageside Seats has an opinion about what's going on in pro wrestling - the Smark's Shoot Standings (S3) are where YOU let us know YOURS.

Cast a vote in the comments. Give us the three performers you think entertained or impressed the most in the last week, and feel free to talk about why. And/or vote for your top performer in our poll.

Remember, the Standings are for the previous week - the December 17th episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, Tuesday the 18th's live WWE SmackDown, Wednesday night's WWE Main Event and WWE Tribute to the Troops, and TNA Impact Wrestling from December 20th.

Make YOUR mark, smarks!

"Of course we can't see you, John. The watch the smarks gave me for Christmas says MY time is NOW!"

All of our counting and compiling skills were put to the test, in a week that was widely commented on as one of the toughest to decide in a long, long time. Votes were split, performers were tied... but somehow, we put it all together and sorted out how the eighteen people receiving votes ranked.

  • {looks offscreen stage left} Ziggles. {turns to camera} Wins.
  • Unique facial expressions are worth a little more than sick bumps, which in turn are worth a couple of spots above a bloodcurdling scream.
  • Hey, smarks still like AJ! Just don't call her a wrestler.
  • Retaining the second most prestigious belt in the WWE ≈ unironically rocking a porn 'stashe.
  • One of the Funkadactyls reminds us that there are divas other than AJ and Eve, Cesaro reminds us that he is really strong, and A-Double reminds us that he's one of the main reasons to watch wrestling on Thursday nights.

Hard to believe we've been doing this for about three quarters of the year. As we head into the new year and the run-up to WrestleMania, it's time to check in with a complete version of our annual Standings.

With about twelve weeks left in the "season", Punk retains his lead, but everybody in the top six is within striking distance. Even someone like AJ, coming off nine weeks without appearing in a weekly S3, or Aries, who had a seven week drought after losing the strap to Jeff Hardy, could make a run with a series of high finishes. Look no further than Dean Ambrose. In a little over a month, the kid is poised to pass John Cena on the annual list. (I love you, Internet Wrestling Community (IWC)!)

There was a lot of pro wrestling product out there to be consumed last week. Catch up with Nolan Keith Harris' Week in Wrestling. And, I gotta tell you, Cagesiders, he does a bang up job. Synopses of matches and segments, as well as instructions on how to navigate to the live blogs, reactions and video playlists for each show. Take a few minutes out from your Festivus (which has to be the official winter holiday of smarks - for what other holiday would we sit around the pole and discuss ways in which we have been disappointed in the past year?) to give us your vote!
