On this date in WCW history: Hollywood Hogan gets head for the holidays

The build to Starrcade 1997 was a magically memorable time in pro wrestling and it came to a "head" on this date in WCW history.

On December 22, 1997, Hollywood Hogan ended the Monday Nitro go-home show for World Championship Wrestling's (WCW) Starrcade pay-per-view (PPV) by cutting a promo on Sting with Eric Bischoff by his side.

The Hulkster was set to defend his WCW World Heavyweight Championship just six days later against Stinger, but had his promo interrupted by a random jobber crew member who was delivering to him a Christmas present. In a fairly corny skit, Hollywood thinks Bischoff hooked him up, despite repeated claims to the contrary.

Meanwhile, Bret Hart coasts to the ring in a convertible limo to smile and adjust his leather jacket.

Hogan opens up the gift and it's a severed head. His severed head, to be exact. He screams and shakes uncontrollably in fear, which prompts Sting to zip-line down to the ring as the show goes off the air.

Cliffhanger!

Watch it all go down:

Alright Cagesiders, it's kinda hard to deny watching Stinger zip down to the ring was a little badass, but did Hogan's "head" games ruin the ending?
