Cageside Seats Weekly RECs: Week ending Nov. 2

Cageside Features: Our very own Cageside 'REC' Awards, for "Recognizing Excellence in Contributions from the Cageside Community". Are you a winner of the Interwebs? Could you be? Find out here...

We're back with yet another dose of amazing work injected by you, the Cageside commenters. Many of you have impressed us all by producing some amazing work and golden comments yet again. So it's that time of the week to recognize the excellent FanPosts, FanShots, and comments that were the "Best in the World" (of Cageside) this past week.

Again, thanks to Cagesider Ecstasy with Extra Cheese for cleverly naming our Weekly Cageside Commenters Awards the RECs, which perfectly sums up what this feature tries to do. After all, without all of you, Cageside Seats would not be the greatest pro wrestling website on the Internet.

So, without further ado, we present to you...

From the "CSSGMT Second Round Match: (4) 'Shawn Michaels v Undertaker, WrestleMania 26' vs. (5) 'Bret Hart v Mr. Perfect, SummerSlam 1991'" thread:

"I really don't know anything about this feud and how it affected their careers." ummm... how about Mr.Perfect made Bret Hart. Got him over. Perfect was previously feuding with Hogan before taking the IC strap off Kerry. Bret Hart was always seen as the underdog. Bret was best known for The Hart Foundation tag team until winning this feud with Hennig. If Hennig never made Bret, Bret never makes Shawn, Shawn never makes Austin and so on. Flair dropped the WWF belt to Hart via small package haha but it was the Mr. Perfect feud that made Bret Hart a singles superstar and future champ. by SpaceMountain on Oct 28, 2012 5:57 PM EDT 3 recs

From the "The Indie Corner: Will the Last Guy Left in the NWA Turn Out the Lights?" thread:

Tharpe is awful...

The NWA title should be at the centerpiece of the indy scene, defending across every major collaborative organization. A championship with the lineage and brand value of the NWA belt could make serious waves if the NWA title was being tossed back and forth between, say, TNA's Austin Aries, ROH's Kevin Steen and CWF Hollywood's Colt Cabana. The NWA title inherently appeals to hardcore fans, Southern fans, and smarks. It should be at the centerpiece of the non-WWE universe, and Tharpe was wasted a tremendous opportunity.

If the current major indies (ROH, PWG, Chikara, DGUSA) could accept a framework similar to the old territories, in which they recognize a proper NWA World Champion, I think it would be good for business and the sport. TNA could probably be convinced to reenter the fold, provided the championship spent most of its time on the TNA roster. The goal should be to peel away disaffected WWE fans, and the NWA title (the only championship that can truly draw eyes the way the WWE and WHC belts can) should be at the centerpiece of an industry-wide effort to gain market share.

That Tharpe has bungled this opportunity to astonishing. This is bad faith management, and the NWA has, instead of rebuilding itself and capitalizing on its brand equity in an incredibly relevant way, severely damaged itself at a time when its stakeholders needed forward progress in the worst way. by GuyinNY on Oct 29, 2012 4:47 PM EDT 4 recs
