On this date in WWE history: Shawn Michaels returns to 'Raw' and Randy Orton goes to sleep

Just one night after winning the WWE Championship from Triple H at No Mercy, Randy Orton was confronted by "The Game's" best friend, a returning Shawn Michaels.

On October 8, 2007, Shawn Michaels returned to Monday Night RAW for a little payback.

That's because "The Heartbreak Kid" was supposedly gone for good, following his Judgement Day beatdown at the hands of "The Legend Killer" just a few months back.

Orton was just one day removed from his title win over Triple H at No Mercy and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon thought it prudent to have the entire locker room come out and shake Orton's hand. When Trips no-showed the festivities, Orton marched back to claim him.

He never made it.

That's because halfway up the ramp, the music hit and Michaels made his triumphant return, landing the "Sweet Chin Music" and giving play-by-play announcer Jim Ross another reason to mark out, on this date in WWE history.
