On this date in WCW history: 'Let it bleed!' Goldberg defeats Sid Vicious for the U.S. title

When Vince Russo took over the booking in WCW in 1999, the matches got real bloody, real fast. That includes the Goldberg vs. Sid Vicious match at Halloween Havoc on this date in history when Sid damn near broke the Muta scale.

Sid Vicious knew how to JUST BLEED long before that guy in the UFC stands made it cool.

On October 24, 1999, Siddy went to war with Gollllldberrrrrg at WCW Halloween Havoc. They got into it prior to the match and Sid, the United States Heavyweight Champion, was busted open by Goldy but refused medial treatment and cried ... "Let it bleed!"

Bleed it did.

So bad, in fact, that referee Mickey Jay was forced to stop their match later in the night after Sid became unresponsive, presumably due to excessive blood loss. Not only did he lose a few pints of plasma, he also lost the U.S. belt.

Any Cagesiders out there remember this blood-soaked title fight?
