On this date in WWF history: Rest in peace, Yokozuna

One of the most legendary big men in pro wrestling history died on this date, as Yokozuna lost his battle with the bulge.

On October 23, 2000, Rodney Agatupu Anoa, known to pro wrestling fans as "Yokozuna," was found dead in his hotel room at age 34.

In addition to winning the 1993 Royal Rumble, Yokes was a two-time WWF Champion and two-time Tag Team Champion (with Owen Hart).

He reportedly weighed 680 lbs. at the time of his death, but like most Samoan big men (hello, Rikishi), he was extremely agile for his size. Above is his controversial title win over Bret Hart at Wrestlemania IX.

Rest in peace, Yokozuna.
