WWE 'Main Event' results and live blog for Oct. 17: Kofi Kingston vs The Miz

WWE Main Event comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (Oct. 17, 2012) at 8 p.m. ET on the Ion Television network for yet another weekly episodic program from our favorite pro wrestling company.

This week's show has Kofi Kingston challenging The Miz for the Intercontinental championship. But wait... don't we already know the result of this match?

Indeed we do, as WWE.com quickly posted spoilers. As did we. Because, why wouldn't we?

That doesn't mean we won't live blog the show and have complete results and the usual open thread for you lovely Cagesiders to chat during the show.

WWE MAIN EVENT RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR OCT. 17

Nolan in.

JBL and Michael Cole greet us.

They begin to preview Kofi Kingston and The Miz, showing the brutal Trouble in Paradise that occurred on Raw Monday night.

Kofi Kingston video package rolls.

Kofi backstage with Josh Mathews. He says that he Miz has been doing a lot of talking and that Monday night, he gave Miz something to remember him by. He said Monday was about sending Miz a message, but tonight is about the title.

Back to Cole and JBL in the ring.

The Miz enters.

The Miz said anyone who took that kick would be out for weeks or months, but he is here to deliver. He is awesome and says all the reasons why. He says he is a future HOF'er and a Wrestlemania headliner.

Roll Miz video package.

The Miz says that if Kofi Kingston wants the title, he will need to come and get it.

Kofi enters.

We go to commercial break before the match begins.

Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Kofi Kingston

Match gets some introductions before we get underway.

Miz jawing at Kofi before we get started.

Lockup and Kofi pushes Miz into the corner. Miz fights out for the side headlock takeover. Kofi turning it into a hammerlock, but Miz gets to the ropes.

Action back to the middle and Miz with a takedown after taking the back. Front headlock, but Kofi again with the hammerlock. Miz out and gets a shoulder block.

Another break in action leads to another lockup. Kofi gets the side headlock. Kofi off the ropes and gets a shoulder block. Make that two. Miz almost gets a hip toss, but Kofi with the monkey flip. Kofi sends Miz outside with a clothesline.

And Kofi follows with a flip dive.

Kofi with a flying clothesline back inside. He gets a nearfall. Kofi back with the side headlock. Miz sends him into the ropes and knocks him down with a sledgehammer blow. Miz stomping Kofi and puts in the Camel Clutch. Kofi fights out and gets a jawbreaker. Miz charges Kofi, but Kofi with a rollup. They exchange pinning problems. Kofi again with a rollup.

Miz charges Kofi who sat near the ropes. He misses and almost runs into that scary Trouble in Paradise.

Miz ducks to the outside and we go to break.

Back from break and Kofi opening up with leg kicks and strikes. Kofi kicking a cornered Miz down. Kofi runs and mounts Miz in the corner, landing six or seven out of ten before Miz powerbombs him to the mat. Miz hooks the leg and gets a nearfall.

Miz with a running knee, but that only gets him a nearfall. Miz working the power offense. He gets his sitdown clothesline in the corner. Miz up top and the flying axehandle. He only gets a nearfall out of it.

Miz fishhooking the nose of Kofi, then locks in the Camel Clutch. Kofi slowly makes it to his feet and fights out, but Miz ends it with a knee and a side suplex. Miz puts in the sleeper. Kofi stands up and fights out with body shots. Miz tries to side suplex again, but Kofi flips out.

Powerslam and Boom Drop...no Boom Drop, as Kofi lands on the knees of Miz. Miz picks Kofi up and unloads punches. He sends Kofi off the ropes and Kofi ducks, getting a double crossbody. Both men down and the referee begins a count.

Both men up. Kofi putting Miz down with shots to the chest. Dropkick. Kofi flies to the turnbuckle as he ducks under Miz's move, but Miz shoves Kofi to the outside.

Kofi down by the barricade as we go to break.

Back from break and Miz has the sleeper in. Kofi fights back to the feet once again and knees his way out. Off the ropes, but he eats a running knee to the chest. Miz with some more power offense to ground the flying wrestler. Miz with two running boots to the face of Kofi, only getting him a nearfall.

Miz goes again for a running boot, but Kofi got a rollup for a nearfall. Miz charging a cornered Kofi, but he gets crotched. Kofi gets an inverted atomic drop. The two start exchanging punches in the middle of the ring. Kofi wins the battle and Miz whips him into the ropes. Kofi locks on and Miz charges, getting back bodydropped to the outside.

Kofi baseball slides to the outside. Miz with a kick to the gut and whips Kofi to the steps, but he does a front flip over. He gets to his feet and lands a flying clothesline. Kofi back inside and gets a nearfall.

Pendulum kick in the corner by Kofi. He gets a crossbody from the top, but Miz rolls through for a nearfall. The two exchange some offense until Kofi levels Miz with a clothesline.

Boom Drop lands.

Trouble in Paradise time?

No, Miz ducks. Skull-Crushing Finale attempt, but Miz rolls Kofi up and gets a handful of tights for a nearfall. The two fight in the corner and Kofi lands the SOS. Cover, but Miz gets the leg on the bottom rope.

Miz outside and he takes his title, but Kofi meets him with a crossbody to the outside. Kofi puts him back inside. Miz with a boot to the gut and a DDT as Kofi gets in, but he only gets a nearfall.

Miz looking at a downed Kofi and ready to put an end to this. Skull-Crushing Finale misses, but Miz gets a cover by the ropes. He gets caught with his feet on the ropes and the referee and him argue for a little bit.

Kofi comes behind with a rollup, but Miz rolls through.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE!

Kofi hooks the leg. Pinfall and victory to Kofi Kingston, your new IC champ.

Striker inside.

Kofi excited and is very overwhelmed. He stands before us as the new IC champion. He tells us about all the past owners of the title and talks about how honored he feels. He says this about all the fans. He says that you can still have fun in the ring and can be the guy who says "BOOM!"

Kofi gives us a "BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!"

Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder up next.

The Miz backstage with Josh Mathews.

He looks very upset. Giving Mathews the death stare. He talks about the shame of Kofi Kingston being the new IC title and he wants his title back.

He wants a rematch.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

Lockup and hip tosses by Ryder. He runs into a Ziggler elbow. Ziggler with the headlock and shoulder blocks. Ryder with a flapjack. Ryder runs into the Ziggler boot. Ziggler stomping on Ryder. Jumping elbow drop gets Ziggler a nearfall.

Ziggler locks in the sleeper. Ryder up and slugging the torso, but Ziggler stops that with a dropkick.

Ziggler wants a DDT, but Ryder clubs him with a clothesline. Missile dropkick by Ryder and he gets the flying forearm.

Broski Boot time.

He lands it. Ryder only gets a nearfall. Ryder wants the Rough Ryder, but Ziggler flapjacks him onto the corner.

Zig Zag lands for Dolph and he hooks the leg. Pinfall and victory to Dolph Ziggler.

Vickie Guerrero talking about Ziggler's MITB opportunities, saying everyone needs to be talking about Ziggler as a legitimate threat. Ziggler says that he deserves better than Zack Ryder. Ziggler says he is the best employee and he is the Main Event. He challenges any Superstar to wrestle him next week in the main event.

Ryback is here and, unsurprisingly, he is hungry.

Ziggler looks like he turned his tights into a blend of sequins, yellow, and brown.
