As Daniela Altimari of the Hartford Courant reported, tonight will be the second debate of four between Republican Linda McMahon and Democrat Chris Murphy in their Connecticut U.S. Senate race:
With the race for U.S. Senate remaining tight, Republican Linda McMahon and Democrat Chris Murphy will face off again Thursday night in a debate at the University of Connecticut.
The hourlong debate, the second of four, is sponsored by the Hartford Courant and Fox-CT. It will be broadcast live on FOX-CT beginning at 7 p.m.
McMahon got off to a strong start in the campaign by affectively using her political advertisements to paint Murphy as a lazy slacker of a Congressman who used his political status to obtain a "sweetheart loan" from a local bank when he was in financial difficulty a few years ago. However, she faltered in the first round of the debate where at times she looked uncomfortable talking about policy, particularly when the questions strayed away from her economic plan that she's learnt off by heart into touchy subjects like gay marriage. The end result was Murphy starting to open up a small gap in the polls in a race that was previously tied, so McMahon needs a much stronger showing tonight to reverse that trend.
For those that are interested, the debate will be streamed live at the Courant's website, courant.com. I will be watching and live tweeting from the Cageside Seats official twitter account, @cagesideseats, during the event. An update should be up later too, once enough time has gone by to fully digest McMahon's performance.
