CM Punk at Comic-Con Ohio: Talks Colt Cabana, WWE Divas, his favorite opponent, and more

CM Punk loves comics and he's the WWE champion, so of course he participated in a quick Q&A with pro wrestling fans at the Ohio Comic-Con on Sept. 29.

Current WWE Champion CM Punk participated in a brief Q&A session at the Ohio Comic-Con this past weekend (Sept. 29, 2012) and a whole gang of topics were covered.

Among them:

  • He's excited about the tag team division making a comeback.
  • John Cena will probably wind up being his best opponent by the time his career is over. It's probably a tie between Cena and Rey Mysterio for his favorite guy to work with.
  • Still no word on when the new WWE title belt will be changed. "They're working on it," Punk said. "I'm giving up." Doesn't sound promising.
  • Naturally, Colt Cabana comes up and Punk gushes over him. In fact, the first time he truly lights up is when a fan brings up Cabana's name. About him, he says "knock on wood, everybody, cross your fingers, we might have some potential good news in the near future."
  • When asked what he would change about WWE, Punk says he's happy about the fact that he's affected change since his big run in 2011. He's done so by having more influence backstage in regards to people actually coming to him and asking him questions. It's interesting because Punk says he won't let people shit on up and coming guys from outside WWE who got hired and were looked down on because of some reputation they may have. That's good news for guys like Dean Ambrose and Antonio Cesaro.
  • He confirms that Beth Phoenix is leaving while also confirming Sara Del Ray is now a head trainer at FCW for Divas coming up on the roster. He acknowledges that sounds bad because Del Ray is probably the best woman wrestler in the world right now but it's a dream job for her.
  • Punk is surprisingly forthcoming with the lack of depth on the WWE roster. He repeatedly makes mention of the company needing to elevate guys to main event level status and not just on Raw. They need guys who can main event WrestleMania. In fact, there are only a couple guys left on the roster who have ever actually headlined that show, and he's not one of them. That says a lot about the current state of the roster.
  • He's not so much a fan of wrestling Undertaker at WrestleMania because he likes drama in his wrestling. He thinks every 'Taker match at 'Mania is a foregone conclusion and he's no fan of that.
  • Last goal left is to main event WrestleMania.
