On January 30, 2005, World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, which emanated from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, ended in controversy when the remaining two finalists, Batista and John Cena, went over the top rope and hit the floor at the same time.
Referees from the RAW brand named Batista the victor while Smackdown! officials insisted it was, in fact, Cena who should be declared the winner.
That led an irate WWE Chairman Vince McMahon to storm down to the ring to order the match restarted. What happened after that, is perhaps best summarized by Vinny Mac himself, in a subsequent media Q&A with the Wall Street Journal:
Seven weeks ago, I severed both of my quadriceps tendons doing a stunt in the ring. I wasn't warmed up, I didn't stretch and that unfortunately is major surgery.
His stunt? Walking to the ring and climbing inside it.
See for yourself, after the jump.

Remember Cagesiders, to stretch and properly warm up every time you get off the couch to take a piss or get yourself a beer.
