On this date in NWA history: Clash of the Champions III presents 'Fall Brawl'

On this date in National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) history, Clash of the Champions III: "Fall Brawl" draws 3,700 fans to the Albany Civic Center in Georgia -- along with a 5.4 rating on "The Superstation," TBS.

Headlining the event was a NWA United States Heavyweight Championship match-up featuring Barry Windham, who put his belt on the line against the one and only Sting.

Stinger won the bout (but not the belt) via disqualification (illegal chair shot) after Windham got ratted out by San Francisco 49'er John Ayers, who came to ringside to play informant.

Dusty Rhodes, Brad Armstrong and Mike Rotunda were also victorious in this televised special back on September 7, 1988. More videos of Clash of the Champions III: "Fall Brawl" after the jump.

Any Cagesiders out there with fond memories of this (or any other) "Clash of the Champions" installments?
