I'm a little late getting to this but the ratings are in for this past Thursday night's (Sept. 22) episode of TNA Impact Wrestling featuring the true beginning of the major build to Bound for Glory on Oct. 16.
It was also the first show following the 1.2 rating Ric Flair and Sting managed to pull with their match last week. Did the numbers drop for this week's show? You betcha (via PWTorch):
Without as much buzz as last week's show featuring Ric Flair vs. Sting, the TNA Impact Wrestling episode on Thursday, September 22 scored a 1.08 rating, down from last week's 1.20 rating.
Impact averaged 1.52 million viewers, down from an average of 1.64 million viewers last week. Impact has averaged 1.63 million viewers through the first 38 weeks of the year.
Not much of a surprise here. I'll be interested to see what kind of impact the pending match between Sting and Hulk Hogan at Bound for Glory has on the ratings leading into the biggest pay-per-view event of the year for TNA.
They've cultivated a decent storyline with Bobby Roode going for the title and James Storm is quickly becoming the most charismatic guy on the entire roster. The problem is that neither of these two have been able to effectively move the needle. Let's hope TNA decides to give them the push they deserve and let's reserve judgement until that time.
