A story currently making the rounds in the professional wrestling world is yet another overreaction to an advertisement for an upcoming WWE pay-per-view, in this instance Hell in a Cell on Oct. 2 at the New Orleans Arena in Louisiana.
The official venue website advertisement reads as follows:
Witness the Superstars of both Raw and Smackdown live under the same roof for a PPV extravaganza live event featuring: John Cena, Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio, The Miz, Edge, Rey Mysterio, John Morrison, The Big Show and many more Superstars live!
The big name in that list that has everyone up in a fuss? The man WWE simply won't let ride off into the sunset, Edge.
Presumably, Edge will be involved in an angle involving someone on Smackdown that leads to an appearance at Hell in a Cell. Most reports have him getting involved with Christian in some way, although that's not set in stone.
Of course, this could simply be a timing issue, as WWE brought him back for "Edge Appreciation Night" on the show airing tomorrow and he's also advertised for next week's Smackdown to cross-promote his appearance on the SyFy show Haven. All this despite his wanting to finally get a clean break from the wrestling business, even going so far as saying he would be okay with never being referred to as Edge ever again.
No different than the advertisement blow up with The Rock at Survivor Series, this could simply be something as small as a misunderstanding. Although that advertisement may turn out to be true if WWE has its way. As in, the ad was written long before it ever went up on the site and it just pulled names from the WWE talent pool at the time. For instance, Rey Mysterio and Big Show appear on the list and we know the former won't be there and it's unlikely the latter will either.
You know what they say about the wrestling business ... in it until you die.
