The professional wrestling world is dominated by promotions like WWE and TNA and because of that, they get the lions share of coverage from major media outlets.
However, what it takes to make it from just a regular average Joe on the street to the big time in the industry usually consists of a trip through the fascinating world of the independent circuit.
Naturally, less coverage is devoted to these smaller organizations across the world, but that will change, if only temporarily with an upcoming special National Geographic will air tomorrow night (Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011) at 10 p.m. ET. The show is entitled "Slammed: Inside Indie Wrestling." Here's a brief synopsis:
