On this date in WWE history: A double dose of SummerSlam

Wrestling fans got a double dose of SummerSlam on this date in WWE history, first on Aug. 15, 2004, and then again on Aug. 15, 2010.

While 2004 doesn't seem like ancient history, consider that Eddie Guerrero was still alive, Chris Benoit was still sane, Orlando Jordan was still straight and Matt and Lita were still a couple.

In fact, it's almost shocking that of the entire 2004 SummerSlam card, 21 of the 27 stars who would appear on that night in Toronto have either retired, quit, been fired or passed away.

Only six remain on the active roster.

Complete SummerSlam results from 2004 and 2010 after the jump.

SummerSlam 2004
Rob Van Dam defeated René Duprée
The Dudleys (Bubba Ray, D-Von, and Spike) defeated Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, and Paul London
Kane defeated Matt Hardy (with Lita) in a "Till Death Do Us Part" match
John Cena defeated Booker T in match one of a "Best of 5" series for the WWE United States Championship
Edge defeated Chris Jericho and Batista in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
Kurt Angle (with Luther Reigns) defeated Eddie Guerrero
Triple H (with Ric Flair) defeated Eugene
John "Bradshaw" Layfield (with Orlando Jordan) defeated The Undertaker by disqualification in a match for the WWE Championship
Randy Orton defeated Chris Benoit in a match for the World Heavyweight Championship

And then, exactly six years later ...

SummerSlam 2010
Evan Bourne defeated Zack Ryder
Dolph Ziggler (with Vickie Guerrero) fought Kofi Kingston to a no contest in a match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Melina defeated Alicia Fox in a match for the WWE Divas Championship

Randy Orton defeated Sheamus via disqualification in a match for the WWE Championship

Team WWE (John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, John Morrison and R-Truth) defeated The Nexus (Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, David Otunga, Skip Sheffield, Michael Tarver and Darren Young)
