On this date in WCW history: Lex Luger defeats Bret Hart to win the United States Championship

The "execution" wasn't that "excellent" on August 10, 1998, as Bret Hart succumbed to the bush-league writing of WCW creative the awesomeness of Lex Luger, who captured the United States Title on Monday Nitro with his shocking submission win over "The Hitman" on this date in WCW history.

Luger, who would hold the distinction of being the longest reigning Unites States Heavyweight Champion in WWE history (523 days), would cough up the strap in his rematch to Hart just three days later on the August 13 edition of WCW Thunder.

Is this a title that means anything to you, as a fan, in the annals of wrestling history?
