Smackdown, which will air this Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, from Sacramento, California, was taped last night (Aug. 9), which means spoilers are available if that's your fancy.
Let's run down how the show played out (via ProWrestling.net):
Triple H starts things out by booking the show at the top of the broadcast. Among the matches he makes for the night:
Ezekiel Jackson vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental title
Alberto Del Rio vs. Daniel Bryan
Great Khali vs. Randy Orton
Christian makes his first appearance by demanding Triple H remove the No Holds Barred stipulation from his SummerSlam match-up against Randy Orton with the idea that he will sue if his demands are not met. They aren't met anyway.
Sheamus vs. Christian was supposed to happen but the latter got himself counted out by just hanging around the entrance ramp.
Beth Phoenix and Natalya def. Kaitlyn and A.J. with Phoenix picking up the pinfall.
Backstage segment reveals Johnny Curtis will take on Mark Henry. The ensuing match, which was Curtis' debut on Smackdown was a squash in favor of Henry, of course. Sheamus makes an appearance leading into their match at SummerSlam.
Ezekiel Jackson's two month reign as Intercontinental champion came to an end, as he dropped the strap to Cody Rhodes in a decent match that will likely result in another bout being added to SummerSlam, which still only has four matches booked.
Did the real Sin Cara return? If he did, no one seemed to notice while he was picking up a victory over Tyson Kidd.
Alberto Del Rio scooped up a submission win over Daniel Bryan to plenty of cheers from the pro Hispanic crowd. Wade Barrett attacked Bryan after the match.
Randy Orton puts away Great Khali with an RKO that leads to a standoff with Christian.
